Claims handling

Notify us about your accident or claim

  • On the same day the accident  occurs or as soon as you receive the claim by phoning us  on 23283000,  by email at insure@firstunited.com.mt, or by visiting our offices.
  • If the accident occurs on a weekend or holiday, email us or call us first thing on the next working day.
  • As your brokers we will assist you to complete a claim form and then notify and take up your claim with insurers. The information provided to insurers will be used by them to assess your claim, whether it is covered or not and how to proceed to approve repairs or manage the claim. It is therefore important that the claims details you provide us are   accurate and complete.
  • Your claim will need to be supported with the documentation required by the policy to prove and quantify your loss and  we will guide and assist you through this process
Remember
  • Take photos of the accident and of damages to insured or third party items and forward these to us.

  • In case of Front-to-Rear Motor Insurance claims, complete the Front-to-Rear collision form with the third party.  If you do not have Front-to-Rear collision form in your car ask us to  supply you with one.
  • Where the accident or claim you are notifying  involves damage to third party property or third party bodily injury, do not admit responsibility, do not argue with the third party - keep calm and collect photos and other relevant facts and information.

  • Take note of ‘third party’ names, identity card numbers and phone numbers including those of  witnesses.
  • Keep note of the numbers below where you need to  notify the authorities in case of an accident:
    • Emergency: 112
    • Police: 2122 4001 - In the event of theft, fire, bodily injury or death claims
    • Wardens: 2132 0202 – In the event of motor collision claims except for Front-to-Rear collision which do not require the intervention of a warden
